15 years of cancer research in just 12 months

15 years of cancer research in just 12 months

Some mightily impressive achievements this year from the Cancer Research UK team in partnership with the wider public on  a mission to accelerate cancer research using citizen science.

The public gave 15 years of time in 2014 to analysing cancer research data for scientists

This is such an innovative and inspiring example of the Generosity Economy kicking into the next gear...a totally new way to 'give'.

People using their downtime to play games that have a valuable scientific benefit. Citizens actively participating in solving a problem, rather than just passively consuming a game.

Imagine if Angry Birds or Candy Crush decided to build this sort of utility into their games?

We're proud to have helped give birth to this whole area in our pioneering Open Labs programme.
