HIVE - Experiential learning from Swarm
hive is an experiential learning offer from Swarm for disruptors and change-makers inside and outside organisations. The purpose of hive is to help build capacity and courageous leadership practice in those who seek to navigate the complex challenges of the 21st century and thrive.
Since we hatched Swarm our intention has always been to develop, launch and run challenge based learning programs for individuals as a central part of our mission.
We believe that for a more beautiful world to become a reality, people need to be better equipped inside and out to embrace vulnerability, cultivate courage and lean into uncertainty; to nurture new creative practices and master new skills as well as develop the energy and motivation to make change happen.
We also know from having designed and participated in hundreds of hours of creative collaboration over the last 6 years that our Swarm approaches can help people get there on many fronts.
New faster ways of working creatively and collaborating with others are essential to be able to innovate both consciously and within ecological and financial limits and constraints.
New ways of building ideas openly, more distributed and with networks inside and outside organisations is emerging fast as the way to accelerate impacts. Co-designing with real communities of people to ensure engagement and success.
Re-imagining new forms of products, service and enterprise which have the potential to create more harmony and beauty in the world, or to finding potential solutions to big gnarly system issues means the need to bring diverse perspectives, collective intelligence and true collaboration to these challenges has never been greater.
We also believe that to flourish as individuals we must build our own inner capacities to adapt to difficult and challenging work.
The constant always on work culture with the pace of technologogy means that without any time for developing personal wellbeing practices we will fry ourselves with stress and eventually burn out.
Relentless doing without any reflection, perspective and being, quickly becomes toxic.
We need to cultivate habits where we can also just be and not do.
Hive is about sharing and developing these skills, practices, knowledge and awareness and ways of taking these practices forward collectively into teams within organisations. So we can thrive in the complexity ahead, not implode.
Hive currently has three offerings:
Hive Challenges – curated social innovation learning experiences around specific challenges tackled in 3 day residential experiences for 30 individuals
Hive Bespoke – experiential learning programs co-designed with teams around specific organisational learning challenges
Hive Sessions – short inquiry based learning journeys with a collaboration partner, 2 x One day workshops with online support and mentoring
Hive Sessions are short inquiry-led collaborative learning journeys in collaboration with a best in class ingredient partner. Spread over two x one day workshops, with online learning and mentoring, they are designed around participants bringing a real life work challenge into the program and working openly and collaboratively with it.
Our first Hive Sessions is in partnership with the Bio Leadership Project and is focussed on cultivating purpose in organisations through a networked approach. Find out more and apply here.
We are now planning the next residential hive challenge which will land Summer 2017 and will shortly be calling for participants. We have 30 places available for a three day program including pre hive and post hive sherpa-ing and support.
So please be in touch if you’re interested to know more.
“I went to work today and it was different. The process of the Hive has made people have more direction, clarity of thought and understanding of what can be achieved. We took Richard through your reflections and the ideas that were produced yesterday. He was fascinated with the whole process and delighted with the results. Your large brains, lightness of touch, original thinking made it unforgettable for me.”
